Jesus said, Do not be concerned from morning until evening and from evening until morning about what you will wear. (36)
Although Jesus uses the example of clothing, the principle of these words apply to every external factor in our life. The idea is simple: at no time should we be worried or fearful about any aspect of our outer life. Certainly, we should give careful and intelligent thought to our necessities, for God does not drop everything we need down from heaven the way a bird feeds its young, who only need to open their mouths and make a racket to get their parent’s attention.
The basis for Jesus’ exhortation is the fact that God is aware of every atom of our life, and has so arranged the universe and the laws of action and reaction (karma) that everything will work in harmony and for our betterment. Even if momentarily things seemingly are not going well, that is our short-sighted evaluation. But in the long run we will see that only good is occurring in our life.
